Here’s how you can celebrate an Eco-Friendly Ganesh Chaturthi.

Here’s how you can celebrate an Eco-Friendly Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Ganesha who's considered to be the God of prosperity and wisdom. It is one of the major celebrated festivals in India. As this widely celebrated festival- Ganesh Chaturthi is nearing, here's how you can contribute to saving the environment.
Due to the use of Plaster of Paris (POP) over the ages, it has polluted our marine life. And Oil Paint colour, which contains lead in it, does not dissolve in water and prevents oxygen from entering the water due to which the marine life is dying. POP and lead both contaminate the water and the salt we use is made from the same contaminated water. It is we who are harming ourselves. Every year after the Ganesh Visarjan, loads of fishes and other marine lives are found dead near the shore. And it is because of POP and Lead.
To prevent our water bodies here's what we can do
  1. Instead of using POP, Use Clay for Ganpati idols.
Clay brick is an environment-friendly material. It is made up of mixing clay and water and contains no added chemicals. It is completely recyclable and returned to earth without harming the environment. Also, watercolours are used to paint the idol rather Oil paint colours.
