Why do people go gaga over art inspired items?

Art is the source of magic in the material world. Art is what makes even the commonest thing look the most beautiful, therefore, it is likely that people have a fondness for art in general and anything that has rich elements of art in specific. Items of daily use and luxury items that we in the modern age use are mainly of the same mould that you would find in your neighbour's house. In such a case, the only thing that makes you stand out is the incorporation of art. Do we all not know how tea-pot looks or what purpose does it serve, then what makes us buy a new tea-pot every now and then? Yes, it is either the design or the print or the unique motif it has got etched on its surface. This viewpoint holds true for almost every art-inspired item. You don’t just buy the item, you buy a piece of art with you that you get to show off. Let us see what are the aspects that make art-inspired items stand out.

Innovation: Innovation always sells. Whenever you see any regular item in art-inspired design or texture, it suddenly becomes innovative, something that probably the consumer's imagination could never have mapped. Therefore, something like this also becomes a center of attention for the visitors to your house.

Elegance: One can't clearly explain this but it is true that anything that is art-inspired, naturally comes across as elegant. When items of regular use get a similar form, they don't just remain a utilitarian need but become collector's choice and this consequence largely arises because of the sheer elegance of art that the inspired items boast of.

Aesthetic sensibilities: Very often you&rsquo'll see that you get upset when you are out to buy a new sofa or a wardrobe because you don't get what you want because the stuff you are planning to buy is not matching your aesthetic sensibility. We all have an aesthetic sensibility and they vary as per our tastes in each other. This aesthetic sensibility is only satisfied with distinction in the design of every item, and that distinction is achieved by what kind of art it has inspired from.

Personal touch: Art-inspired items to speak of a different side in us to our friends or family. It is not necessary that you have to make something yourself to show an extension of your personality in that, even the reason that you have made a choice for that particular item is also reflective of who you are to the world around. This adds a personal touch to the items you buy.

Mostly handmade: Art-inspired items are usually handmade and you rarely get an exact copy of the same in the market. Even if you find the same design there will be a difference in some strokes or impressions on the surface. Handmade products always appeal to the consumer's choice because they are unique. Even popular opinion rates handmade products higher than large-scale manufactured products by connoisseurs.

What are the origins of Gond Art?

Gond Art is a folk tribal art form practiced by arguably the largest tribe in Central India. The art form today is expanding many new horizons and has acquired a cult following in Indian art connoisseurs. The tribes involved in this art form predominantly hail from Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra, Telangana Maharashtra. Although we mainly associate it with these pockets this art form with time has acquired a pan-Indian appeal and enhances the rich heritage India takes pride in. Let us discuss how this rich tradition grew.

From where it all started

The recorded history of Gond Art goes back to as many as 1400 years. The areas where we find its traces have also been identified with rock paintings from the Mesolithic age. Since there is a very evident stylistic and thematic influence of Mesolithic paintings in Gond Art, who knows probably their legacy dates back even further? The Gonds trace their roots back to the Pre-Aryan age and anthropological sources identify them as Dravidians. The dialect they speak is also heavily influenced by Telegu and other Dravidian languages.

Why Gond?

The word Gond comes from Kond in the Dravidian idiom which means green mountains No wonder why nature is such an integral thematic stylistic element in Gond Art with the recurrent depiction of motifs like trees, leaves, animals, birds, fishes, fish scales, drops of water and primitive human figurines. Gond Art's existence is so much intertwined with nature that paintings for them are an offering to the worship of nature and a divine medium for seeking protection and warding off evil.

Values beliefs:

The Koi or Koiture what the Gonds call themselves, traditionally hold the belief that a good image begets good luck. This explains why Gond Art for the Kois wasn't just a recreational pastime but a part of their lifestyle. They decorated the walls and floors of their houses with traditional motifs and tattoos. The paintings were influenced by Mahari Devi, Phalvari Devi (Goddess Kali), local flora fauna and were made on festive occasions like Karwa Chauth, Ashtami Nag Panchami.

Colors painting style:

The Gond painting uses bright vivid colors like yellow, red, blue, and white. These days due to the paucity of natural colors the Gond paintings we see are made by poster colors on the canvas, however, traditionally the colors were derived from charcoal, colored soil, plant sap, mud, flowers, leaves, and cow dung. The extensive use of straight lines that we see in Gond Art is used to convey a sense of movement and add motion to the still paintings. The use of dots dashes enhances the illusion of motion and increases the scope for depicting things in detail.

Gond Art in form and the range of subjects it derives its art out of celebrates the rich heritage of India. It is important that we promote it and reinvent it in our aesthetic choices and preferences. Artists like Suresh Kumar Dhurve, Kalam Patua, and Balua Devi through their paintings are taking this art form to a global platform. We have gained enough that the world has had to offer us, it's high time that we now look within our rich and vibrant cultural heritage.

Creativity, a way of Life

Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world- Brene Brown-

Creativity is one of the greatest qualities any of us can be blessed with, yet many never allow their true creativity to be expressed. It is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality.  Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. If you have ideas but don't act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.

We've talked a lot about creativity around here. We've shown how easy it can be to find the space and make the time for creating. We've talked about how it doesn't have to be big no gallery exhibitions necessary!!! that it can just be dinner. And while we haven't really mentioned that it is fun, but that goes without saying. However, creativity is important for your little ones. But it is important for you too. Because you are the best example that your little ones have. You have the opportunity to show and lead them down the path to living a creative life, to developing those creative skills they need to conquer the problems they face in the future. Moreover, predicts a longer life, helps to solve problems, and develops confidence.

Creativity is just connecting things-

One of the best aspects of coffee painting is that it is relatively inexpensive. You can purchase a variety of coffee products, such as grounds and pods, at any local grocery store, and create a myriad of works with them. Additionally, coffee offers unique tones and shades, which can be used to create interesting and engaging compositions. With coffee painting, the possibilities are endless. When making coffee paintings, it is important to pay close attention to light and shadow. This will allow you to create realistic and detailed works, as the light and shadows can convey mood and emotion in the artwork. Additionally, one should also use techniques such as gradients, blending, and different textures to add depth and character to their paintings.

To begin, select a painting surface such as canvas, watercolor paper, or any other type of material that is suited to your medium. Many coffee painters will use a damp sponge to evenly spread the paint across their surface. This helps to create an even layer of paint that will be easier to control. Next, choose your paint, which can be anything from espresso to mocha. The choice of shade and strength of the coffee will ultimately depend on the effect you are looking to achieve.Once the surface is prepared and the coffee is selected, it is time to begin. Start off by sketching out your artwork. Consider the composition and plan out how you want to lay out the design. This will be especially useful if it is your first foray into coffee painting. Once the sketch is in place, it is time to use the paint. To get the most out of your painting experience, it is important to practice the various brush strokes and techniques. Using the tip of the brush, create small, circular motions to produce rich, dark shades. Use large, sweeping strokes for a softer, more subtle look. Experiment with various techniques in order to find the right one for your project.

With coffee painting, you can produce works of art that are full of texture and life. The art is unique, since no two paintings will ever be the same. Mandala is the Sanskrit for Circle or Completion, where one makes mandala a window for self-examination inside. Mandala art is a vessel for allowing thought, and the process of creation is a form of meditation Exercises that relieve stress are quick and easy to do and can be used as a focus for continuous meditation. The mandala is a symbol of the universe and gives us the feeling of being part of it as we have it. Our internal communication and is used for understanding, healing, and self-expression in circular structures, reflecting the wholeness of the person creating it.

Nature creating the mandala is a healing and symbolic way. The shapes and colors you create in your MandalaArt will show your inner identity at the time of creation. The Magic Of Art Therapy

The outbreak of the novel Coronavirus the Covid-19 has wrecked our lifestyle. The guidelines issued by authorities has changed the way we learn, work & interact with people. Our everyday lifestyle has evolved. It’s the year 2021, almost a year after the outbreak and we are still facing the aftermath of it. While the services are slowly resuming, the one thing that remained constant is the “STRESS”. When things were normal, we used to stress about the commute, project deadlines, cleaning and organization of our homes, etc. and now we are stressed about Internet connection, background noises, etc. Many of us believed that implementation of the Work from Home (WFH) Policy will prove to be a boon & improve the situation thereafter, but instead, the WFH has triggered more stress and mental health has taken a toll. The external factors are out of control, but what lies in our hands is the way we deal with them. Art therapy works magic when dealing with stressful situations. It helps people to communicate and express their thoughts through Painting, Drawing, Music, Poetry, etc. The purpose of Art Therapy is to create a safe outlet to let go of your feelings and fear. The process is not to judge how well you are doing or what you have achieved, it is to make sure that you feel at ease, and have a sense of control over your physical & mental well-being. The benefits of Art Therapy are as follows:

 1. It boosts self-esteem - Often when we feel pressured by something, it results into anxiety because of which we may under perform in the tasks we are good at. Doodling, or painting helps to calm your mind, thereby boosting your confidence to ace the task.

 2. Builds Self-Confidence Art helps to express yourself better, when you create a particular art, it gives you the feeling of accomplishment. The feeling of accomplishment boosts the self-confidence.

 3. Relaxation for Mind & Body – Keeping oneself busy while creating an art helps to neglect the other toxic thoughts for a while. It gives your brain a break from the usual thoughts & combats the negative mood.

 4. It improves focus – It has been evident that training in Arts (Drawing, Dance, Music) boosts your retention power. It enhances your brain function thereby strengthening your attention span.

 5. Increases Empathy – The elements of art such as its vivid and vibrant colors, textures, the main subject of art stimulate our emotional quotient making us more empathetic. The application of Art
Therapy is not restricted to only adults, it is also useful for kids who seem to be nervous when working on school projects, for a child with special needs (Autism), it creates a safe outlet for their emotions and expression to float freely without being judgmental. It calms the chaos and gives them the vision to look at their life from a different perspective. As Stephen Sondheim has rightly quoted, 'Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos.

Art , Emotion & Expression

Pablo Picasso quotes Art as, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

Over the years, art has helped me to improve my mood, when I feel anxious, I simply take a pencil and start scribbling, it makes me feel relaxed. It calms the chaos in the life. A personal experience made me believe more in art, it was 9:30 at night, I was scrolling down my Instagram feed, and came across a video from a popular Instagram handle, the video depicted a man from a rural region who was using black ink to create portraits of famous celebrities. He was neither having a color pallet nor did he have the paint brushes, the only thing that kept inspiring him was the support from viewers. He turned a deaf ear to the background noises, his surrounding and kept concentration on his artwork, for that was his outlet for the emotions. I was taken aback on how I keep demanding for a particular tool to make that picture perfect when in reality, the only thing that should really matter is what your art is trying to convey.

Art has power to communicate your emotions, when you are angry, you find yourself scribbling on a paper. when you are happy you see yourself making smiley faces on a paper, when you are sad, you are just randomly drawing lines. If you think that repressing your emotions or denying your feelings helps in combating your negative mood you are wrong, instead it makes you more restless, and insecurities build up. You can’t create an outlet for your emotions until you accept them. When you engage yourself in Art, such as drawing, painting, crafts, you are distracting yourself from negativity that surrounds you. You are in a better place, to be more precise, at peace.

As simple as it sound, even colors have their own language, it’s called the color psychology, when you add Red color, it reflects energy, brings the vibrant side of the picture. When you add Blue, it creates a soothing & calming effect. When you add Yellow, it symbolizes happiness, warmth. Deciding which color to add in your art, expresses your current mood or the emotion that you are going though.

Art guides you to explore yourself better, when indulging in an art, craft activity, question your purpose behind it, e.g.: When you are creating an abstract art, and when you draw a first brush stroke, question yourself on what made you do so, this will help your thoughts to flow freely. Don’t judge your art when you are expressing yourself, you are not creating it to impress someone or you are not doing it to brag a prize at painting competition. Don’t be hard on yourself if you are making a mistake, learn to embrace them, for every time you think of yourself as a person who can’t be an artist, remember, every artist was once an amateur.
